Blue skies…real ones AND metaphorical ones. (Photo by the author)

It’s night here in New Hometown, Florida on this Saturday, November 7, 2020. It is nice and cool outside; the current temperature is 76˚F (24˚C) under partly cloudy skies. With the wind blowing from the east-northeast (with emphasis on the east) at 18 MPH (28 KM/H) and humidity at 78%, the feels-like temperature is  76˚F (24˚C). The low temperature tonight is expected to reach 72˚F (22˚C).

Blue skies…to celebrate the Biden-Harris victory.

Well, Dear Reader, it appears as though Joe Biden and Kamala Harris are the President- and Vice President Elect. All of the major news organizations have called the 2020 election as a Democratic Party victory over President Donald J. Trump (R), even though the latter is claiming that the election was stolen from him via massive voter fraud. He is also making noises about taking his fight to the Supreme Court and contest the results of the election.

And, as expected, his followers are buying into the “We wuz robbed!” hysteria. Here are some random Trump supporters’ comments that I have seen on Facebook:

S.C. said: There’s millions and millions who are disgusted! Get ready for a war like non before! We will wait for the lawsuits! If he ends up being inaugurated just pray! You will need it for what’s coming. Too many people feel cheated because of the illegal practices of the disgusting dems! We will prevail! Just watch!

And when someone told S.C. that he didn’t think she could run a mile, much less fight in a civil war, she added this comment:

This is one of the things I worry the most about…unhinged Trump fans with guns. Image by Circ OD from Pixabay

That’s why I have guns! To protect myself from liberals! You really are naive! You really dont have any idea what’s coming do you?

C.O.C. is not even a U.S. citizen, but he weighed in as a Trump fan from Ireland: Trump has started zero wars in 4 years, even turned down an opportunity to attack Iran when they shot down a US drone, after he saw the retaliation estimated deathtoll of 150.

When he withdrew Obama’s aircover for ISIS , Russia bombed them back into the Stone Age.

Obomber dropped a bomb for every 20 minutes of his bloody 8 year tenure.

He oversaw 8 overthrows, enabling genocide and rape enslavement of Christian and Yassidi minorities..

And Libya turned into a wasteland with weekly negro slave markets in Tripoli, people traffickers pushing Africans into the Mediterranean in dinghies for $8000 payment, and Copts in orange jumpsuits beheaded on the beach.

Trump was arrogant and independently wealthy. Not the product of 47 years mired in swamp politics , and owed no-one any favours.

Biden is a puppet, will be used by hawks to warmonger, if he lasts or they don’t replace him.

I could probably find and add more of these bizarre and disturbing commentary, but I’ll spare you the aggravation.

I, of course, am thrilled that Biden and Harris defeated the Trump-Pence ticket and will send those two enemies of democracy and decency out of Washington, DC and to the dustbin of history.

My NaNoWriMo 2020 T-shirt is nice, but it didn’t come with wordsmithing magical powers. (Photo by author)

Of course, these distractions have not been conducive to my writing efforts for NaNoWriMo 2020. Despite my best intentions, my word count for today was 0 out of the average 1667 needed to reach the 50K-word mark by November 30. I could probably still reach that goal by the deadline, but I’d have to focus like a laser on The Tonic of Their Victory, and focusing that intensely is often difficult for me, especially in stressful times.

As a matter of fact, I had to summon every ounce of determination I have to be able to write this post for A Certain Point of View, Too. Part of me wants to celebrate what is likely the end of Trump’s political ambitions, while another part of me dreads the reactions of his cult-like following. Hopefully comments such as S.C.’s are just empty bluster, but I fear that some Trump supporters are capable of committing acts of domestic terrorism and are willing to use force if their “Greatest President EVER” is officially declared the loser of the 2020 election.

Hopefully tomorrow will be a far more productive writing day for me.

  1. Gee whiz, what sore losers! I’m so glad the counting is over and the right man won. 🙂

    1. Most of the comments I see on Facebook are so childish that I didn’t even bother copying them down to use as quotes for this post.

I won’t be 100% happy till Trump accepts reality and concedes. Right now, my happiness level is at 75%.

  2. In 2000, I knew there was massive cheating, and yet we accepted what was. In 2004, I was disgusted by how John Kerry was treated (Swift-boating) and heard stories of rigged machines, and still accepted what was. In 2016, I knew there was massive interference by Russia and likely some fraud, and we still accepted it without any killing or riots.

Trumpanzees can now sit down and shut-up.

    1. I think 2004 was the last time I voted in person.

Yeah…Republicans have played dirty politics pretty much throughout my lifetime; I think Barry Goldwater’s 1964 campaign wasn’t too dirty, but Nixon’s 1968 campaign and wealthy Republicans colluded with South Vietnam to disrupt the Paris peace talks and thus hurt Hubert Humphrey’s chances to win the Presidency…which planted the seeds for Watergate four years later. Plus, of course, 1968 was the first time in which former Democrats in the South voted en masse for a Republican, thanks to Nixon’s “Southern Strategy” of portraying himself as the candidate for “law and order” and cleverly using race-baiting and fear-mongering.

I don’t remember Bob Dole playing dirty in 1996; he might have, but that election is a blur in my memory. I do remember that G.H.W. Bush did everything to make Michael Dukakis look weak on defense in 1988, plus his campaign played the race card with its Willie Horton ads.
