Well, I did go for that walk outside. It’s 68˚F (20˚C) now, and that’s the high for today, so even though it’s cool by New Hometown, FL standards, it was actually quite pleasant out there. I went outdoors while the sun was still out and above the horizon. Now it’s almost sunset and it’s getting dark – and soon the mercury will drop to the 48˚F (9˚C) mark.

It helped, of course, that I wore my new Bradford Exchange “Han Solo Jacket,” a Christmas gift from my friend Juan Carlos Hernandez and his wife Adria. It fits nicely, is quite comfortable and looks exactly like the one designed for Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back by the late Academy Award-winning costume designer John Mollo.
I went to “my” bench at the nearby park and sat there for a while. I didn’t take a book with me thinking that it was going to be chilly under the shade of the tree behind that bench, but the temperature was mild and pleasant. Of course, it helped that I was wearing my new jacket over a white button-down shirt and a Star Wars T-shirt with Grogu – aka “Baby Yoda” – underneath that shirt. I could have sat there and read for a while; it’s not like I have a Significant Other with whom I can have conversations anymore, right?
I snapped a few shots with my phone’s camera, sent “Happy Holidays” texts to a few friends in Miami and elsewhere, and soaked in a bit of fresh air and sunshine. It felt so good! I must have stayed outside for a good 20 minutes; I don’t know because I didn’t time myself. After a decent interval, I got up off the park bench and walked slowly back to the house.
I don’t know what I’ll be doing tonight. I might watch a movie or a documentary from my DVD/Blu-ray collection. More than likely I’ll do that here in my room unless The Caregiver and her new boyfriend decide to go to bed early. Either that, or I’ll read one of the books on my To Be Read Pile. We’ll see.
