Musings & Thoughts for Tuesday, March 1, 2022, or: The One with ‘Je ne sais quoi’

Hi, there, Dear Reader. It is late morning in Lithia, Florida, on Tuesday, March 1, 2022. It is a cool Florida winter day in the Tampa Bay area. The current temperature is 64˚F (18˚C) under cloudy skies. With humidity at 84% and the wind blowing from the north-northeast at 7 MPH (12 KM/H), the feels-like temperature is 61˚F (16˚C). Today’s forecast calls for partly sunny skies and a high of 79˚F (26˚C). Tonight, skies will be partly cloudy. The low will be 53˚F (12˚C).

Well, as noted above, it’s March 1, 2022, the start of a new month. And as I write this, I feel a sense of je ne sais quoi. It’s probably a combination of things – jitters over the war in Ukraine, disgust with the rabid right not just in the U.S. but also Canada, and a lack of enthusiasm about my upcoming 59th birthday.

I don’t feel like writing a long epistle about any of these topics; yesterday I wrote about how I feel about how I believe things will go on March 5, so I don’t see any need to repeat myself. The only thing I will say is that maybe my birthday will be more joyful than I think it will be but given the circumstances of my living arrangements and the personalities involved, I won’t pin my hopes on it.

Anyway, today is the day that I have to renew my annual subscription to’s Premium blog package. It costs $104.00 a year for the privilege of having a Premium account and a domain name. I don’t mind having to pay for an elective service I chose to sign up for in 2020, but I do resent the conservative yahoos – especially the one guy that is the most likely suspect – who reported my original Blogger version of A Certain Point of View to Facebook’s Community Standards and got it banned with no way for me to appeal.

I actually like writing here more than I do on Blogger – I am used to its quirks and vices, plus I have more followers and feedback on A Certain Point of View, Too than on my first blog – but every time I get my renewal bill from WordPress, the feeling of having been banned by Facebook because some Trump-supporters got their noses bent out of shape because I don’t like their Fuehrer wannabe still angers me. (And conservatives complain incessantly about “cancel culture” and how “patriots” get silenced by Big Tech media! Oh, the hypocrisy!)

Speaking of A Certain Point of View, Too….

Today marks the 600th consecutive day in which I write and publish a post on this blog. I didn’t consciously decide to “write a post every day and see how long a streak lasts” – my original plan was to alternate between the two blogs, one day here, one day on Blogger. And, as often happens in life, things worked out differently, and although I do still write on Blogger every so often, it seems I’ve gravitated more to WordPress for the reasons I mentioned earlier. (I would be happier, though, if  WordPress could add special characters, such as © and the trademark “TM,” to the typography section of the editing function.)

I don’t have much else to add – the je ne sais quoi feeling is affecting my ability to focus on any one topic, so I’ll close for now. Until next time, Dear Reader, stay safe, stay healthy, and I’ll catch you on the sunny side of things.
