Hi, there, Dear Reader. It’s the last Monday of August 2022, which means that – if you go by the meteorological calendar and not the astronomical one to record the seasons – summer will end on Wednesday, August 31. And like most late summer days, it’s hot, extremely humid, and we will likely see thunderstorm activity here in the Tampa Bay area later this afternoon.
I don’t have much in the way of news – yesterday was just another, even lonelier version of the day before. The only things I accomplished on a torrid, frustrating Sunday (besides learning how to use the fancy new faucet that the “Caregiver” and her “friend” installed in the kitchen sink on Friday) were:
- I ordered Rogue One: A Star Wars Story – Original Motion Picture Soundtrack (Expanded Edition) from Amazon. (It was affordable – $11.80 including Florida sales taxes – and it arrives today!)
- I – once again – fought another Skirmish in Regiments, once again in command of a West German unit fighting off a Soviet invasion in the “1989 that could have happened but didn’t.” Peculiarly, I thought I won the battle; I captured most of the Objective Zones and forced many Warsaw Pact units to retreat, but Regiments takes into account the quality of a player’s equipment vs. that of the artificial intelligence “commander’s.” Thus, even though on the surface I “won,” the Red force defeated the Blue force (my panzergrenadiers) decisively
If the thunderstorms don’t start affecting the area around Fish Hawk Ranch till later in the afternoon, I might attempt the same Skirmish but with another NATO unit that has at least some air support. I also need to figure out what I am doing wrong so I can win battles – decisively and without the victories being Pyrrhic.
I don’t have any other earth-shaking news to share, Dear Reader, so I’ll close this post now. Until next time, stay safe, stay healthy, and I’ll catch you on the sunny side of things.
