Musings & Thoughts for Wednesday, December 6, 2023, or: A Quick Life Update (Countdown to M-Day Edition)

Late Morning, Wednesday, December 6, 2023, Lithia, Florida

It’s a chilly – for Florida – early winter day here in the Tampa Bay area. The temperature outside is 65°F/19°C under sunny conditions. The feels-like temperature is 67°F/20°C. Today’s forecast calls for sunny skies and a high of 67°F/20°C.

Meanwhile, in Madison, New Hampshire, conditions are quite different. The temperature in my future town of residence is 27°F/-3°C under cloudy skies. The feels-like factor is 36°F/2°C. The forecast for Madison calls for partly sunny skies and a high of 32°F/0°C.

A Quick Life Update

I don’t feel much like writing today; I woke up at 4:30 AM and couldn’t fall asleep again, so I am feeling the effects of mild sleep deprivation. Combine that with the sadness that comes with seeing my shelves being taken apart and removed, plus the mixed emotions I feel about the move, and you’ll understand why this post will be brief.

As I just mentioned, the moving process is inevitably nearing its climax. Most of the shelves – save the one where my TV and Blu-ray player sit – on one side of the room – have been disassembled. The ones that remain are empty or nearly so. As a result, the room that I’ve called my own for five and a half years is looking less inviting and more impersonal.

Blecch.

The only good news I have is that my package with Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny and the limited edition of Stand By Me arrived last night around 6 PM. I opened the Indy film’s package to redeem the digital code; I was pleasantly surprised when I saw that my Movies Anywhere copy includes the isolated score by John Williams that’s part of the 4K and 2K Blu-ray discs’ extra features.

I don’t think Stand By Me has a digital copy included, but I will open the packaging later today to make sure. If a code is included, I’ll redeem it and stream Stand By Me on Movies Anywhere as part of my small collection of streaming copies.

I have one last Amazon order that’s due to be delivered today, but I’ll write about it tomorrow.
