Early Evening, Sunday, December 17, 2023, Madison, New Hampshire

Hi, there from Madison, New Hampshire.

It’s a frigid, rainy early winter evening here in this corner of the Live Free or Die state. The current temperature outside – the heating in the house is on, and I am wearing “layers” – is 36°F/2°C under light rain and snow showers. (After living in Florida for most of my life, it feels weird writing “snow showers,” but here we are, I guess.)

I don’t have much to report; my friends here are doing their best to make me feel at home here in New Hampshire. Patti, especially, understands my situation and is being as supportive and helpful as possible. Her husband Marc is also a considerate and generous guy; one couldn’t ask for better friends, especially when it comes to an interstate move in early winter.

Even though I have both of my computers – the desktop one I’m using now, and the laptop out in the dining room – up and working, I think I’ll wait till both my rooms here are 100% ready. It’ll take a while but trust me…it’ll get done in due time.

I’m still trying to adjust to the colder conditions here; in Florida, it does get frigidly cold in winter, but only when a strong cold front makes its way down there and causes freezing temperatures that affect the state’s agricultural sector and make Floridians scramble to get their winter clothes out of their closets or attics. I’ve never been a fan of cold weather, so getting used to it is going to be difficult and will take time.
