More Musings, More Thoughts for Sunday, January 7, 2024, or: Weekend Update, Part the Third

Hi, everyone.

It’s been a few hours since my last post; it’s still rather chilly (19 degrees Fahrenheit, -7 degrees Celsius) outside, and we’re still getting light snow showers from the winter storm now affecting this part of New England.

I have not yet done any of the fun things I wanted to do for entertainment; instead, I spent time doing some necessary fine-tuning to this blog. It wasn’t difficult to do, but it was time-consuming, so I will probably try to read, play a game, stream a movie, or listen to music once I finish this short entry.

As I mentioned earlier, that winter storm is still making its presence known throughout the region. I don’t know how much snow has accumulated here since last night, but to this transplanted Floridian, it looks like a hell of lot of flakes are on the ground.

And, if the forecast for today is correct, more snow is going to fall before the storm moves away from New England. We can expect more precipitation during the daylight hours – the sun sets at 4:23 PM. or just over an hour from now – and we’ll experience passing light snow showers throughout the night as well.

Around 2:14 PM, I went out on the front porch – properly attired for the low temperatures – to snap a few photos and touch the snow. Just a little experimental “let’s see what this snow feels like” sort of thing. It was, as I expected, cold and wet. Sort of like a Slushee…but without any flavoring.

(And no. I did not taste the snow.)

I didn’t linger long. I tried wearing gloves before going outside, but I found that I couldn’t manipulate my smartphone with them on. I do have texting gloves, but I was in a hurry and didn’t want to return to my office to retrieve them, so I boldly went out there with no gloves on so I could take the three snapshots.

(This is hard to do with my phone because it shifts from mode to mode if you aren’t careful with your finger positioning. So I was out there a tad longer than I would have liked just get the images I wanted.)
