Late Morning, Tuesday, August 6, 2024, Madison, New Hampshire
Hi, all.
I tossed and turned again last night. It was a slight improvement from the night before, but I still got up too early. I feel exhausted, cranky, and nervous, and I’m daunted by the task of moving by myself, without any clue how to do it. (For starters, I can’t decide whether I should keep my office furniture. That’s my second biggest worry, ironically. My main concern, of course, is how I’m going to pay for the move at all.)
I’m just so…disappointed and frustrated. And tired. And disillusioned. And confused, too.
For example, I’m unsure about my departure from New Hampshire. Do I need to fly to Miami, and if so, what’s the best way to reach the airport? My last flight was in 2011 when I used the Super Shuttle for transportation to Miami International Airport. As someone accustomed to city life and living close to the airport, that was manageable.
In Madison, I don’t know where the airport is, much less how to get there. And I know there’s no inexpensive Super Shuttle in Madison. I can, of course, “Google it,” but that still doesn’t lower my anxiety levels.
So here’s the thing: I can’t just up and pack by myself, despite what some folks suggest. I don’t really know how to do it right, and honestly, I’m just not that skilled or energetic. If I tried, everything would end up thrown into boxes all willy-nilly, and I’d wreck those boxes too.
Looks like I’m gonna need some pro movers, but until I figure out where I’m heading and which stuff I can take along (definitely gotta have my desk, office chair, computer, TV, and Blu-ray player), there’s no point in getting an estimate.
Ugh. This is driving me nuts.

I am sorry about this Alex. If I understood correctly, you have somewhere to go right? Could you maybe ask them to help you out?

I wouldn’t be moving without a place to go, my friend. I’m a bit daffy, yes, but not that daffy! 🙂

I saw your GoFundMe on Facebook. That is a good idea. You have many on-line friends on social media and you need the money soon. I think a lot of your on-line friends might be able to help out as long as they know about it, so advertise it.

First, don’t panic. Make lists of what has to be done. what can you do yourself? What do you need help with? What do you need the pros to do? Keeping deadlines in mind.
Yes, it’s a pain in the ass. But it’s a finite pain in the ass.
Best of luck, my friend.
