Mid-Morning, Thursday, August 8, 2024, Madison, New Hampshire

Hi, everyone.

It’s almost 6:30 AM in eastern New Hampshire as I write this. It’s chilly (55°F/13°C), and the sun is still dim mostly behind the mountains to the east. It’s going to warm up to 77°F (25°C) and the skies will be mostly sunny, but…for me, it’s a cold way to start the day.

I’ve been awake for over an hour; the stress over my upcoming move is affecting my ability to sleep, and even though it’s still early on this late summer Thursday, I’m already tired.

I also have an appointment to see a doctor at the nearby hospital (don’t ask me the name…I forgot it) at 1 PM. It’ll be my first visit to a physician since the summer of 2015: I last saw my now-retired primary care physician a few months after Mom died. I’m sure that I’ll be asked a ton of questions and told that I need to make an appointment for blood testing and whatnot, but since I’m leaving for Florida soon, I’m not sure what good that will do.

I will, however, ask the doctor to prescribe something to help me sleep. I’m exhausted.

  1. Yes, get something to help you sleep. Not having been to the doctor since 2015 is a bit long. Well, I had not been to the dentist for 17 years. My dentist complained and after that I went every year.

    1. Happily, I’m in good shape for a guy who turned 61 in March. The only issue that needs addressing in the short term is my anxiety. Dr. O’Brien prescribed Remeron for that.

  2. Soon you will be blissfully living in Florida again. I wish you a smooth transition to your new home. I also have trouble sleeping sometimes, so I know it is no fun to lie awake with your mind racing. Take care! ❤️
