After a week-long road trip that took me from Madison, New Hampshire down the Eastern Seaboard through various states, including Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, Virginia, the District of Columbia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia, I am back in my home town of Miami. We arrived yesterday afternoon, and today we unloaded the truck we rented from Budget.
I’m still not thrilled that I was compelled to leave New Hampshire, but I had valid reasons to do so. First and foremost, my former fellow renter wasn’t going to be happy until my name was off the lease…so even if everything else had gone right, I’d still be here now instead of there. And…let’s not kid ourselves…eventually the isolation of rural life in New England would have become unhealthy. As a writer, I need solitude; as a human, though, I didn’t need the loneliness I was beginning to feel.
Anyway. I’m tired and still in shock that I’m back in the city I left in 2016, so I’ll close here. Till next time, stay safe, stay healthy, and I’ll catch you on the sunny side of things.

I hope things will work out for you in Miami. My wife and I drove from Cleveland, Ohio to Tampa, Florida, in one stretch, which is about 17hrs. I know New Hampshire, Miami is a little longer, 25hrs in a stretch, but it seems like one week is a long time. You must have stopped a lot.

Yes, we did stop quite a few times. To sightsee places I’d never been to, including the Statue of Liberty on Liberty Island and St. Augustine, Florida.

I made it. I’m still trying to get my bearings in a new home with a new living arrangement. I’m somewhat conflicted; I’m happy to be in a familiar environment, but I’m sad that I couldn’t stay up north…yet glad I won’t see another snowy winter.
