Late Morning, Monday, October 28, 2024, Miami, Florida

It’s a moody, warm late October morning on my second full day back in Miami. As I pen this initial blog entry from my hometown, the temperature sits at a balmy 81°F (27°C) with clouds lazily drifting across the sky. The air is thick with 65% humidity, and a gentle breeze from the northeast whispers at 13 MPH (21 Km/H), making it feel like 84°F (29°C). Today promises to be mostly cloudy with a high of 83°F (27°C).

It feels like I’ve been steamrolled by a freight train. Sure, I finally slept like a baby in my new, real bed—no more futon after almost five years! I woke up at my usual 6 AM, feeling surprisingly refreshed. But the ten-day odyssey from Madison, New Hampshire, back here has left me sore to the bone and emotionally drained. It’s as if I’m still untangling the chaotic web of events that took me from Florida to New England and back. There’s solace in being home, yet a shadow of disappointment lingers, especially when I recall how some pivotal people acted during this saga.

Though I’m not quite ready to delve into the darker side of life in Madison beyond what I’ve already chronicled on this blog, I’m attempting to focus on the positives. For instance, I managed to avoid becoming a bear’s dinner and caught a fleeting glimpse of an attractive neighbor while strolling down Huttwill Drive about ten days ago. As I reflect on my New England adventure, I’m also reacquainting myself with South Florida after an eight-year hiatus.

Although this is an AI-generated image, this is what my sexy neighbor in Madison looked like from behind the one time I crossed paths (literally) with her.

Regarding my daily routine, I’m gearing up to return to my “blog in the morning, chill at midday, and dive into novel writing in the afternoon” schedule that I followed, more or less, back in Madison. Jumping right back into Chapter 20 of Reunion: Coda might not happen immediately after the move, but I need to switch my brain back to “Novelist” mode. There’s still a slim chance I could wrap up Reunion: Coda by mid-December if I resist the urge to turn the ending into a labyrinth. Realistically, I’ll probably finish the novel in early 2025, but I’m aiming for a festive Christmas/New Year’s Eve release…provided, of course, that I can rekindle my writer’s mojo.

That’s all for today, my friends. As I mentioned earlier, the road trip has left me a bit weary, and there are a few tasks awaiting my attention before my midday respite. So, I’ll wrap things up here. Farewell, dear readers! May your day be splendid, and until we meet again, take care!

  1. I think it is great that you stopped along the way to visit and see places. Traveling and sightseeing can be exhausting but it brings experiences and memories for life.
