Greetings, Constant Readers!
I apologize for the post-noon ramble, but let’s just say I hit the hay at around 3 AM and woke up – for good, anyway – close to 10 AM on the shortest day of the year. Thanks, winter!
As you can imagine, I’m feeling about as lively as a sloth in a hammock, even after a cup of coffee and a hot shower that could wake the dead. So, I won’t be writing a long blog post today. In fact, the only news I have to share is that my couch and I have become officially best friends. It’s one of my rest days anyway, so I’ll be giving myself a gold star for self-care. Enjoy your weekend, and may your coffee be strong and your naps be long!
To make up for the lateness of this post, here are some of my favorite romantic songs.
(What? Surely you didn’t expect Christmas songs, did you?)

Today is my Swedish namesday so it is easy for me to remember the winter solstice.

Oh, and you share the day with “Denis.”
I had no idea that “name days” were a thing till Thomas mentioned that his is on December 21.

Different countries have them on different days. December 21st is Thomas in Sweden but the Thomas day is a different day in other countries.

They’re not a big deal in the US. It’s more a Europe thing, I think. And a Catholic thing rather than a Protestant.
If memory serves, St Denis was martyred by decapitation. He picked his head from the ground and walked with it for a while. Where he stopped is where he was buried and where his church was built.

According to the story…he managed to preach a sermon….whilst decapitated, mind you.

My name day in Sweden (I looked it up!) was nine days ago!
Oddly enough, my name day here in the States is March 3…two days before my birthday.
