Afternoon, Thursday, June 5, 2025, Miami, Florida
Summer in South Florida is, despite the Tourist Bureau ads that promise lots of sunshine and bikini-clad women at the beach, often gray and rainy. The sky looks heavy, gloomy, and leaden, not too unlike a cold winter day in New England when you know it’s going to snow soon. That’s what the first days of June 2025 have been like for me on my first summer back in my hometown, although admittedly, today has been less rain-soaked than the previous two days.
I wanted to write this post earlier in the day so I could work on Comings and Goings at my usual fiction-writing time between 2 and 6 PM. Unfortunately, the gloom of the day has sapped my writer’s mojo, and only now, close to 3:30 PM Eastern Daylight Time, am I getting any traction on this, my daily offering on A Certain Point of View, Too.
It seems, Dear Reader, that dark skies and even light rain days dampen the creative spark in me. It’s a good thing that I plan to release Comings and Goings in 2026 instead of Fall 2025, wouldn’t you say?

In the meantime, I’d love it if you could get a copy of Reunion: Coda, my new (and first!) novel. It’s available through Amazon in Kindle e-book, paperback, and hardcover; you can also read the e-book free if you subscribe to Kindle Unlimited or special order it at Book Culture or your local public library. I could use the royalties, plus you’ll be getting what some reviewers call a “lyrical book” and “a thrill.”

I have scratched out some time to get started on Reunion: Coda. I’m stunned at how real it feels. I’m looking forward to continuing the story. I hope your weather lifts from over you!

Hey, Scott! Wow. I appreciate your kind words about Reunion: Coda! I’m glad you detect realism in that novel. If you like the tale of Jim, Mark, Marty, and Maddie, you might want to check out Reunion: A Story, which is where their tale begins….
