Orlando, Early 2026

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

Spring in Florida is nothing if not indecisive. One day we’re flirting with summer, the next we’re rummaging for sweaters. Just this past weekend we were dealing with heat, humidity, and a round of strong thunderstorms that barreled through on Sunday and Monday — the kind that make you wonder if hurricane season decided to show up early.

This morning, though, the world looked very different. When I woke up a little before 7 AM, the temperature had plunged to 45°F (7°C). Not surprising, really; those storms were the calling card of a strong cold front sliding down the peninsula. And compared to the deep‑freeze mornings of rural New Hampshire, this little cold snap is practically gentle. No gloves, no boots, no Michelin‑Man layers — just a sweater or light jacket over my usual T‑shirt and trousers, and I’m set.

As of now, it’s 50°F (10°C) under partly sunny skies. The forecast promises mostly sunny conditions and a high of 62°F (16°C), with warmer weather returning tomorrow. Florida may be fickle, but at least it doesn’t stay chilly for long.

Later today, Spectrum is sending a tech to swap out our current router for a newer, more powerful model. I have no idea when they’re scheduled to arrive, so I’m going to wrap this up and hit “publish” before I temporarily lose Internet access.

Until next time, stay safe — and I’ll catch you on the sunny side of things.
