Musings & Thoughts for September 27, 2020

Hi there, Dear Reader. It’s late morning (past 9 AM) here on this last Sunday of September 2020. It’s going to be a hot, humid day; the current temperature outside is 80˚F (27˚C) under mostly sunny skies. With humidity at a sticky 92% and a becalmed wind, right now the feels-like temperature is also 80, but the forecast high for the area is 90˚F (32˚C) with mostly cloudy conditions. As a bonus, we can also expect thunderstorms to pass through our area in the evening hours.
Yesterday we received our absentee ballots so we can vote by mail in the 2020 elections. In the state of Florida, the deadline is as follows:
The supervisor of elections’ office must receive your ballot by 7 p.m. on Nov. 3 (Election Day), whether you return it via mail or in person via a secure drop box in your county. Florida asks that you not return the ballot to a polling place.
I plan to fill in my ballot later today. All I need to do is borrow a pen with black ink and 10-15 minutes of peace and quiet, and the voting part is done. I will mail it tomorrow; I don’t drive, so I can’t do the “secure drop box” thing.

I don’t have any major plans for the rest of the day; I might read from Sand and Steel for a while or stay in my study and watch a movie or an episode or two of 24: The Complete Sixth Season. Or I can listen to Jerry Goldsmith’s music from Star Trek: The Motion Picture. If I can get motivated to write later, I might come up with a review (if I can think of something to review, that is) or another Musings & Thoughts post. We’ll see; I usually lose motivation when I’m unhappy, but you never know. I might surprise you with something really worth reading.

Well, that’s all I have to say for now. Stay safe, stay healthy, and I’ll catch you on the sunny side of things.
