Hi there, Dear Reader. It’s early afternoon here in New Hometown, Florida on Sunday, September 5, 2021. It’s a hot, muggy, and potentially rainy early autumn day. Currently, the temperature is 86˚F (30˚C) under mostly cloudy skies. With humidity at 56% and the wind blowing from the southwest at 4 MPH (7 KM/H), the feels-like temperature is 96˚F (37˚C). Today’s forecast calls for light rain during the day. The high will be 90˚F (32˚C). Tonight, we can expect mostly clear skies. The low will be 73˚(23˚C). The Air Quality Index (AQI) is 58 or Moderate.
Well, based on the experience I had with Paramount Home Media Distribution’s Indiana Jones 4-Movie Collection in June, I don’t think I will receive my Star Trek: The Original 4-Movie Collection box set (also from Paramount) this week, even though the scheduled “street date” is Tuesday, September 7.
Paramount chose that date because the Star Trek franchise celebrates the 55th Anniversary of the TV premiere of Star Trek: The Original Series. On Thursday, September 8, 1966, at 8:30 PM Eastern, NBC aired The Man Trap, the first episode (but the eighth produced) featuring William Shatner, Leonard Nimoy, and DeForest Kelley as (respectively) Captain James T. Kirk, Lt. Commander Spock, and Chief Medical Officer Leonard “Bones” McCoy of the starship U.S.S. Enterprise.

But in a Groundhog Day-like repetition of past events, it looks like consumers who ordered this Emerald Anniversary box set with the 4K UHD reissues of the first four Star Trek feature films from Amazon will have to wait a bit longer for their packages to arrive.
I’ve been looking at the status of my order, and since it’s Sunday, September 5, I figured that if Amazon was certain that my box set with Star Trek: The Original 4-Movie Collection was ready for shipment, it would have at least changed the order’s status from Pre-Ordered to Preparing for Shipment and a new estimated delivery date.

But no. I just checked my Amazon orders and went to the Not Shipped page. And while my other pre-order – Zack Snyder’s Justice League – is marked as Arriving Tuesday (despite the fact that it has not shipped), my Star Trek box set seems to be out in the Mutara Nebula of uncertainty.
Oh, well. There’s still a tiny chance that Amazon and Paramount will get their collective act together and consumers will get their Star Trek: The Original 4-Movie Collection sets this week. I’m not going to count on its arrival on Tuesday, though.
Que sera, sera.
