On Writing & Storytelling: From Chapter Nine to Chapter Ten, or: Pushing Forward, Thanks to the Time Jump Thingy

It’s early afternoon now here in my corner of Lithia, Florida, on Friday, June 9, 2023. I need to take a lunch-and-rest break in a bit so I can get going with my writing, so I will make this a short update.

The view from my creative writing program, WriteItNow.

After looking at what I have written so far – at least based on what’s on my WriteItNow creative writing program – I have decided to just end Chapter Nine where it is (Scene Three) and just continue the 1983 portion of the novel in Chapter Ten.

I still have to figure out where to start the chapter – I still have not resolved that issue, but at least I no longer have a huge “in-universe” time jump of three months (and a few days more) in a chapter that centers around an event that takes place in one specific day.

Here’s hoping that today will be far more productive than yesterday!
