Hi, there, Dear Reader. It’s late morning here in Lithia, Florida, on Sunday, June 11, 2023. It’s a warm (80°F/27°C) early summer day here in the Tampa Bay area. It’s sunny, humid, and it’s going to be a hot and more humid day, with the forecast calling for a high of 91°F/32°C and mostly sunny skies.
Even though I woke up before 7 AM, I slept better last night than I did the night before. I’m not sure if it’s the movie that I ended up watching (The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers – Extended Edition) or the fact that I decided to not work on the novel during the weekend, but I fell asleep at a more decent hour (shortly after midnight – not bad for a Saturday night) and slept without interruption till 6:42 AM.
Aside from finishing the chore of hanging up my freshly washed clothes in the closet, I don’t have plans for today. Certainly, no social plans since I don’t have anyone to go anywhere with these days. So, after I’m done putting away my clothes, I suppose I’ll try to relax and enjoy a quiet, uneventful Sunday and save most of my energy for tomorrow’s writing-related activities.
What are my options for Rest and Relaxation, you ask?

- Reading. Not only is reading one of my favorite leisure activities, but it’s also one of the most important things I must do as a writer. As Stephen King points out in On Writing: A Memoir of the Craft: “Can I be blunt on this subject? If you don’t have time to read, you don’t have the time (or the tools) to write. Simple as that.”
- Watching movies
- Gaming
- Listening to music/watching a video of a live concert performance

If it wasn’t for the heat and humidity, I would venture outside for a while. I should have done so when I got up; it wasn’t too warm at 6:45, and all I needed to do was to change out of my pajama bottoms and put on my jeans, slip on a pair of shoes, and boom! Out the door and out onto the sidewalk! Of course, once I get into a routine – such as waking up and logging on to my computer as soon as I wake up and not going out for a walk – it’s hard to get out of it.
In any case, I will do my best to simply enjoy my Sunday and not worry about Reunion: Coda until tomorrow.
Well, I must get going, Dear Reader. Those clothes that I need to put away won’t hang themselves in the closet on their own, so I must go and complete the chore that I started doing yesterday morning. Until next time, stay safe, stay healthy, and I’ll catch you on the sunny side of things.

Thank you, Thomas.
I hope I sleep just as well, if not better, tonight. I’d hate to wake up at 2:30 AM tomorrow!
