Late Morning, Sunday, July 16, 2023, Lithia, Florida

Hey, there, Dear Reader. It’s almost 11 AM here in my corner of the Tampa Bay area as I begin writing what I expect will be the only thing that I write today. This being Florida, and this being summer, it’s already a hot searing mid-July day. Outside, the temperature is 87°F/31°C under mostly sunny conditions. Of course, the feels-like temperature is higher than that; the heat index for my neighborhood is 97°F/36°C. And, not surprisingly, it’s going to be both hot (90°F/32°C) and rainy (the forecast calls for scattered rain showers).
Such is life in the Sunshine State during the “wet season.”
My Weekend Recap – Saturday

Aside from writing yesterday’s post and trying to help my friend Juan Carlos Hernandez with a cool project that he is working on to promote my existing Reunion: A Story novella, my Saturday could be summed up by the Spanish expression, No hay novedad. I avoided working on the novel’s manuscript, partly because writing Thoughts & Musings for Saturday, July 15, 2023, or: Weekend Update, Part the First left me exhausted, but mostly because I wanted to work on Reunion: Coda with a positive mindset, which I sorely lacked yesterday.

I did consider writing a review of Bird’s Eye Games/MicroProse’s Regiments, a Cold War-turns-hot game I’ve been playing since it was released 11 months ago, but as was the case with working on my novel, I was too troubled, too tired to do so.
I did try to watch Star Wars – Episode VII: The Force Awakens last night, but I – once again – started watching it way after 10 PM and fell asleep about half an hour into Act One.
Action This Day

As of this writing, I don’t have any plans for today aside from doing a bit of housekeeping in my room and trying to relax and recuperate so I can work on the novel tomorrow.
I might:

- Watch a movie or TV show (on Blu-ray or DVD)
- Play a computer game
- Read for a while
- Listen to music/watch YouTube videos (mostly music videos
I’m also going to try to not dwell too much on negative topics, including about my mother’s death anniversary, although given my penchant for melancholia, that might be a tall order. This is nothing new; I’ve been like this since I was a kid. Loss, grief, abandonment, and conflict have been part of my life’s experience just as much as love, friendship, loyalty, and serenity, though (admittedly) my personal history is shaped more by the former rather than the latter.
I don’t have much else to say – except maybe “Please, buy a copy of Reunion: A Story!” if you have not already done so – so I will close for now. Until next time, stay safe, stay healthy, and I’ll catch you on the sunny side of things.

I am glad you are taking a slight break. You deserve it.
