Hi, there, Dear Reader. I’m just here to give you a quick update on Scene One of Reunion: Coda’s 11th chapter, which was the main item on my To Do list for this last workday of the week.
As I mentioned in On Writing & Storytelling: TGIF! The Endpoint of Chapter 11, Scene One is in Sight, this scene, which is an in-depth look at an episode in the backstory of Reunion: A Story, was close to completion when I stopped writing last night cos I was running out of energy. (Writing, to those of you who don’t do it as a profession, is tiring both physically and mentally. Especially if you neglect to take breaks every once in a while, something that I’m guilty of doing.) I didn’t know then how much longer the scene needed to be – all I knew when I closed the file last night so I could go eat dinner and relax was that I had not reached the endpoint.

Well, I’m pleased to report that sometime after 5:30 PM Eastern Daylight Time, I completed Chapter One, Scene One. I didn’t have to add too many new words, either; since I had managed to bring the narrative of the scene – which is perhaps one of the few instances in which my real-life experiences at South Miami High are depicted with a high degree of historical accuracy in Reunion: Coda – I only needed four new paragraphs (377 words) to complete that part of the story.

Although I will, of course, re-read the scene on Monday (or, if I get bored, over the weekend) and make necessary revisions, I can honestly say I had a productive workday today and completed a necessary task on my novel writing journey.

I’m glad that scene is over (for now).
