Late Morning/Midday, Tuesday, September 5, 2023, Lithia, Florida
“What’s wrong with Tuesdays?” Trent asks. “Everything. Monday’s always Monday, but at least it’s the start of something new. Wednesday is hump day, Thursday’s almost Friday, and Friday brings the weekend. But Tuesday? Nada.” ― Steven Rowley, Lily and the Octopus

Hi, everyone.
One of the things I’ve noticed about three-day weekends (such as Labor Day weekend) is that Tuesdays don’t feel like Tuesdays; they feel like Mondays. And that, my friends, is exactly what this Tuesday in early September 2023 feels like…a Monday on a weirdly abridged week in which Friday will feel like an odd cousin to Thursday…albeit a weird Thursday that will usher in a weekend.

As expected, it is also a Torrid Tampa Bay Area Tuesday in early (meteorological) fall. As I write this, the temperature outside is 85°F/30°C under sunny skies. With humidity at 51% and the wind blowing from the east at 5 MPH/8 KMH, the heat index is 88°F/32°C. Today’s forecast calls for sunny skies and a high of 91°F/33°C.
And since we’re in the peak of the Atlantic hurricane season, it is worth noting that the National Hurricane Center in Miami is tracking Tropical Depression Thirteen, which, according to the forecast, is expected to become a major hurricane this weekend.

Action This Day

Since today is a back-to-work day, my plan is to work on the manuscript for Reunion: Coda, even though I’ll be starting at a later time than usual this afternoon. I woke up late – close to 8:30 AM – so I’m way behind my normal daily schedule. I want to add at least 200-300 “new words” to the second scene of Chapter 11; I’m still stuck in that part of the story, and I must finish it to wrap up this fleshing out of a story point I first mentioned in passing in the Scenes from a Long Goodbye chapter of Reunion: A Story.

I still need to take my rest break, though, so we’ll see how much writing I actually get done this afternoon. I will try writing first as straight prose, but if I get stuck again as I did with the phone conversation between Jim and Maddie in the previous chapter, I’ll have to resort to writing it as a screenplay scene, then rewrite that as straight prose.
Before I go on break, I want to let you know that the official trailer for Reunion: A Story will be uploaded to YouTube sometime tomorrow. My friend and filmmaking partner Juan Carlos Hernandez and Popcorn Sky Productions created a short video for the existing novella that features a blend of images, music, and even some narration from the book by Juan’s talented son, Anthony James (A.J.).

So, keep your eyes peeled; I will post the trailer here as soon as it’s available!
Well, that’s all the news I have for you today, so I’ll close for now. Until next time, stay safe, stay healthy, and I’ll catch you on the sunny side of things.

We’re watching Hurricane Lee. There’s a path that shows it taking the same route as the 1938 hurricane that devastated most of new England. Irene was pretty bad here and it was only a tropical storm.

I hope Lee avoids the entire East Coast. Hurricanes suck!
