Midday/Early Afternoon, Wednesday, September 6, 2023, Lithia, Florida
Hi, everyone! Welcome to the first Hump Day post for September 2023!
Here in the Tampa Bay area, it’s still summer-style hot even though we are now on Day Six of meteorological autumn. (Traditionalists who stick to the astronomical calendar: Yeah…I know. The autumn equinox isn’t until the 23rd, but I prefer the meteorological calendar cos it’s easier to know when each season starts and ends.) Currently, the temperature outside is 90°F/32°C under sunny conditions. With humidity at 51% and the wind blowing at 2 MPH/4 KMH, the heat index is 95°F/35°C.

Today’s forecast, likewise, is closer to summer than it is fall-like. Here in Lithia we can expect sunny skies and a high of 93°F/34°C. There is a tiny (4%) chance that we’ll get some rain, but I don’t think we’ll see any of it here.
Reunion: A Story Gets a New Promo Trailer!

It’s official! My novella, Reunion: A Story, has its very own teaser video!
My friend Juan Carlos Hernandez and his NYC-based production company Popcorn Sky Productions created a two-minute book trailer that mixes motion pictures, stills, music, and a cool narration – very film noirish! – for my first work of fiction, and as it stands, for the first half of the Reunion Duology.
While I had some direct input into its creation – I chose both the musical cue and the excerpt from Reunion for the voiceover (which was performed by Juan’s son Anthony Hernandez, a talented young actor who has appeared in several Popcorn Sky films, including Statico, Clown 345, and Ronnie and the Pursuit of the Elusive Bliss), Juan and his team deserve most of the credit for this awesome book trailer.
You can watch it right here, right now!

I liked the images of the city and the voice over. The writing was strong.

Ah. The writing is an excerpt from the novella. I chose it, partly because it would introduce the narrator and Marty without spoiling the story, yet introducing the themes and conflict in a clear, concise way. We trimmed it a tad for timing purposes, but it’s pretty much straight from the novella.
