Midafternoon, Saturday, October 7, 2023, Lithia, Florida

Hi, everyone. How are you all doing on this first Saturday in October?
I’m not going to write a long post for A Certain Point of View, Too today. I decided, albeit after giving the matter some thought, to take today off from being a writer and just be a regular Joe – or Alex – on this nice (if perhaps cloudy and humid) Saturday in the Tampa Bay area.

As much as it pains me to admit it, I am still too tired to work on the manuscript for Reunion: Coda, at least as far as starting Chapter 12 is concerned. Although I slept well last night, I’m still physically and mentally fatigued, which naturally makes it hard for me to concentrate when I write anything, including a “simple” blog post (such as this one). If I do work on the novel, it will be later, after I eat a substantial dinner, and it’ll be most likely editing and revising existing text rather than writing new material in the next chapter.
I am not 100% thrilled about my decision, but by the same token, I need to relax and have some fun, even if that fun involves solitary hobbies such as reading, listening to music, gaming, or watching something on TV. After all, while I do have a strong work ethic, I can’t sit at my desk all day every day of the week without feeling any negative physical and mental effects. So, until I have dinner in a couple of hours, I will be taking it easy.
A Little Bit of Good News

I will say, though, that one of the reasons why I love what I do is knowing that my efforts as a writer aren’t a total waste of time. Today, while I was checking my Kindle Direct Publishing account’s Reports page, I noticed that someone purchased a paperback copy of Reunion: A Story. It showed up early this morning – yesterday, KDP reported no orders of either the Kindle e-book or the paperback – so I’m assuming the order was either made or completed today.

(Yes, I keep track of my book sales. It’s part of my job as a self-published writer to keep track of my sales and royalties. Most of the time, it’s a bit depressing because there are months when the number of copies sold – in either of the available formats – is a big fat goose egg. Then there are those rare instances when sales “spike” up a bit – as do the royalty payments from KDP. I don’t write exclusively for the money, mind you, but I am not going to lie to you and say I “do it just for the artistic aspect” of my chosen trade.)
I do hope that more of my friends and relatives buy copies of Reunion. It’s a good story if I do say so myself. But don’t take my word for it; on Amazon, Goodreads. and WordPress, there are at least 16-18 reviews of the first half of the Reunion Duology if you want to get someone else’s opinion on my novella.

Here are two reviews from WordPress, in case you need some friendly persuasion:
Patti Aliventi’s Book Review – Reunion: A Story by Alex Diaz-Granados
Thomas Wikman’s The Revised Reunion A Story
Anyway, I’ve tarried long enough here as it is, so I’ll take my leave of you here. Until next time, stay safe, stay healthy, and I’ll catch you on the sunny side of things.

I think good writing comes when you are rested and inspired. It is fine to take breaks. Thank you Alex for including mine and Patti’s reviews in your post.

I think I’ll take it easy today as well. If I want to work because I am rested and inspired, so be it. But…it’s Sunday, and as I write this, I feel…lazy.
Regarding the reviews: Hopefully, the shares will be mutually beneficial.
