From Sand to Snow: A Writerโ€™s Journey

I’m leaving the Sunshine State

For a place where seasons change

Trading sand for snow and ice

A new start at sixty sounds nice

I’m packing my bags and my books

Ready to explore new nooks

Seeking inspiration for new stories

In a land of mountains and valleys

I’m excited to see the autumn leaves

The winter frost and the spring breeze

The summer flowers and the blue sky

Four seasons for the first time in my life

  1. That is quite a change at 60. I am curious why you picked New Hampshire. It’s far from where you are. I should say I’ve only driven through that state a couple of times. I wish you all the best with your new life.

    1. I got an offer I couldn’t refuse.

I was hoping to find an apartment with subsidized housing in the Tampa Bay area, and there was one that I liked, but there are no units available in the short term. So when I was told there was a place available in the Live Free or Die state, I accepted. It’s far from where I am, true, but it’s where I must go.

  2. It is a radical change. I’ve never lived in New Hampshire, but I’ve lived in upstate New York. It is beautiful country. Yeah, a bit of snow. And changing seasons will be a thing. Invest in winter clothing and boots. Short, then longer walks in the snow and return home to a cup of hot chocolate with some secret ingredient (Kahlua, peppermint schnapps, or vodka) and you live to fight another day. ๐Ÿ™‚

And, if I need to say it, don’t forget to re-register to vote.

    Wish you all the best.

    1. I’m hoping to live to write another day.

I’m not going to forget about registering to vote! I’ve been voting since 1984…and there’s far too much at stake for me to stop now.
