Greetings! It’s a relatively mild late autumn day here in the Tampa Bay area. Outside, the temperature is 78°F/25°C under sunny conditions (but it feels like 89°F/31°C thanks to a weak sea breeze of 4 MPH/6 KMH blowing from the southwest and 60% humidity). Today should be sunny and warm, with a high of 82°F/28°C.

In contrast, my future place of residence, Madison, New Hampshire, is experiencing early winter conditions even though, of course, meteorological winter doesn’t start till December 1, and “traditional” winter, aka astronomical winter, doesn’t get here until December 21 (the winter solstice). As I type this, the temperature there is 45°F/7°C under partly sunny skies, and the forecast calls for mostly sunny skies and a high of 46°F/8°C.

Not Much of a Weekend Update to Share…

We did some packing yesterday morning; we gathered up the stuff from my Miami home’s kitchen, at least the things I will take to the house up North and put in boxes. (I’m leaving some items, such as Mom’s wine glasses and a dog-shaped cookie jar, here.)  After that, the packing process was put on hold until tomorrow, since there are only a few of my things left to remove from my room and pack, and life must go on, at least for other folks here.

I also didn’t work on the novel, not even to make revisions or edits. I had the time yesterday, especially after 5 PM, but I didn’t want to mess with Reunion: Coda when my mind is trying to cope with the reality that in less than a month I’ll be leaving.

Don’t get me wrong; I’ve been ready to move since the idea was put forward to me last year. Then, of course, the move was going to be local and thus less difficult and stressful. That plan, as you know, was changed, and because low-income rentals are nearly impossible to find either in Hillsborough or Miami-Dade (my two preferred choices), I decided to accept the offer to rent two rooms in the house up in Madison. I’m going up North voluntarily, but just because I want to go doesn’t necessarily mean I’m doing cartwheels of joy at the prospect of leaving a place I’ve called home for the second time in seven years.

So, even as I try to spin the voyage to New Hampshire in a positive light for you and myself, I can’t focus on my novel, at least not every day, and never consistently. I’ll work on it whenever I feel that I can – I can’t just sit in my room all day gaming or listening to music, right? – but I’m not going to push myself to finish the first draft before December 12 (“M-Day”).

And Now, Straight from YouTube, Here’s Some Music for a Late Fall Sunday….

A quick and easy read that will take you back to your youth. Very well written. I would love to see a full length novel from the author. He has wonderful writing skills and knows how to capture and hold the reader’s interest.Peggy Jensen Cai, Amazon review
