Late Morning/Midday, Tuesday, November 21, 2023, Lithia, Florida
Hi, there, folks.
Well, it’s a warm, almost summer-like late fall day here in the Tampa Bay area. As I start this, my 1,338th post for A Certain Point of View, Too, the temperature outside is 80°F/26°C under sunny skies. Of course, this being Florida, and since it’s humid beyond the walls here, the feels-like temperature is 86°F/30°C. If I didn’t know that we are only two days away from Thanksgiving 2023 – and my last holiday in this house – I’d swear it feels more like late spring or early summer instead of winter’s eve. Today’s forecast for the Lithia/Fish Hawk area calls for mostly sunny skies and a high of 84°F/29°C.

As for the place I’ll call “home” in the not-so-distant future (I leave here on December 12, two weeks from today), it is feeling a lot like winter in Madison, New Hampshire. According to my computer’s Weather app, the temperature is 33°F/1°C under both sunny skies and a winter weather advisory. Today’s forecast for the area calls for mostly sunny skies and a high of 38°F/3°C, with a mix of rain and snow expected in the evening and night hours.

From Lithia to Madison: The Moving Out Saga Continues

“There is always a sadness about packing. I guess you wonder if where you’re going is as good as where you’ve been.” ― Richard Proenneke, One Man’s Wilderness: An Alaskan Odyssey

Well, as the countdown to M-Day continues inexorably, the focus now is on packing most of the clothes I don’t need to wear now. Last night, for instance, I took all of my T-shirts out of the closet and carried them – in several batches, of course – to the Florida room. From there, they were placed into moving boxes from Lowe’s and Home Depot.
I still have my button-down shirts and most of my trousers in my closet, but I believe that those will start being removed from where they hang within a matter of days, presumably between now and the weekend, with a brief break in the packing process for the Thanksgiving holiday.
Things that still need to be done include:
- Getting a new smartphone at Verizon
- Removing my 4K UHD TV and its wall mount from the master bedroom
- Packing my grandfather’s antique clock
- Packing up my old 1980s-era globe that’s in the garage
I’m sure that there are other items to add to my “To Do” list related to the move, but these are the ones that I’m most worried about.

And, understandably, I have no plans to work on the novel – unless I feel a pressing urge to do revisions or minor edits – so all is quiet on the writing front today.
I don’t have anything to add to this entry in the Moving Out saga, except to say that I’m still wanting to leave, but at the same time, I feel apprehensive, even melancholic about doing so. Oh, well. The decision’s been made, and the process is underway, so….
And on this queasy note of nervousness, I’ll close for now. Until next time, stay safe, stay healthy, and I’ll catch you on the sunny side of things.
A nostalgic trip about what could have been.
Very well written. A good read! – Peter Warn, Amazon review
