Hi there, gang. I donโ€™t usually write posts for A Certain Point of View, Too this late; in the past, when Iโ€™ve posted in the evening hours itโ€™s usually a second entry in the blog, not the first. Oh, well, better late than never, eh?

Well, as you can imagine, itโ€™s already dark outside โ€“ itโ€™s just past six as I write these lines โ€“ here in Lithia, and the temperature outside is 75ยฐF/24ยฐC, though it feels a bit warmer (77ยฐF/26ยฐC), under mostly cloudy conditions. Tonight, we can expect partly cloudy skies and a low of 69ยฐF/21ยฐC.

Meanwhile, in Madison, New Hampshire, the weather picture is different. The temperature there is 32ยฐF/0ยฐC with a mix of rain and snow. Itโ€™s not a night to be outdoors, as the feels-like temperature is 27ยฐF/-3ยฐC. And itโ€™s only the third day of December and meteorological winter.

Weekend Update, Part the Second

The only thing worth reporting about this penultimate weekend in Florida is that yesterday was relatively uneventful. I received some feedback on Reunion: Coda from my trusted Beta Reader around this same last night; I looked over her notes and suggestions for revisions, and I made some adjustments to the manuscript โ€“ cos, you know, thatโ€™s why I needed a Beta Reader in the first place.

Other than that, I didnโ€™t work on the novel. It was, after all, Saturday, and even if I was not in โ€œIโ€™m Moving to New Hampshireโ€ mode and staying put, yesterday would have been a day off from writing anything except this blog and social media posts.

I didnโ€™t play any of my computer games last night, nor did I watch anything until after 10:30 PM. Of course, by the time I decided to watch The War: A Ken Burns Film, I was tired, and even though I began watching Pride of Our Nation: June-August 1944 in my room, I fell asleep 20 minutes or so into it.

I did order a set of thermal underwear from Amazon. Most of my friends who have lived or still live up North strongly recommended getting at least one set of โ€œlong johnsโ€ to wear under my normal cold-weather clothing. Iโ€™m not fond of chilly temperatures, so I heeded their advice and bought a Thermajohn Long Johns Thermal Underwear for Men Fleece Lined Base Layer Set for Cold Weather. Hopefully, itโ€™ll help stave off at least some of the wintry chills Iโ€™m bound to experience when I leave Florida in less than nine days.

I ordered the long johns last night; they shipped sometime while I slept, and Amazon delivered them this morning.

Amazon also notified me today that my last order of Blu-rays to be delivered here shipped this afternoon and is scheduled to arrive on Tuesday. The shipment consists of Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny (4K UHD Blu-ray, โ€œregularโ€ Blu-ray, and digital copy) and the limited edition steelbook of Stand By Me, director Rob Reinerโ€™s 1986 adaptation of Stephen Kingโ€™s novella The Body. I didnโ€™t need the latter, but I donโ€™t like being limited to just one Ken Burns documentary on disc and having to stream whatever movies I managed to get digital copies of in Miami and here.

Well, thatโ€™s whatโ€™s new with me, and since I donโ€™t have much to add, Iโ€™ll close for now. Until next time, stay safe, stay healthy, and Iโ€™ll catch you on the sunny side of things.

  1. I liked both those movies. I often by Blu-Ray and DVDs as well and then I watch them over and over. I liked the pexel photos you chose. I love winter images and the night sky.

    1. I watched “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny” on Disney+ on Friday; I knew my Blu-ray set would be sent by Tuesday, but I was eager to see it (since it’s the only movie of the five I didn’t see in theaters)…so.

The steelbook of “Stand By Me” features the original poster art. I’m sure the regular Blu-ray that’s packed in a box out in the Florida room looks similar, but it looks super nice in the new reissue. Plus it has the 4K and “regular” Blu-ray in a 2-disc set….

Thanks for the compliment about the photos. I’m glad you liked my Pexels choices.

  2. The Mister and I watched Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny on Saturday. I thought it was pretty good.

Stand by Me is a must-see. It’s one of my favorite movies.

    1. I thought Dial of Destiny was an enjoyable movie. I like the fact that the Blu-ray edition has John Williams’ score on an isolated track, so that’s a nice bonus feature that makes buying the physical copy worth it.
