Late Morning, Tuesday, January 2, 2024, Madison, New Hampshire

Hello, there. Welcome to another post – the second for the new year, the 1,382nd overall – in A Certain Point of View, Too. It’s a bright but frigid New England morning here; the temperature outside is 26°F/-3°C under sunny skies, with a “feels-like” temperature of 37°F/4°C. The forecast for the rest of the day calls for sunny skies and a high of 38°F/3°C; tonight, we can expect mostly clear skies and a low of 15°F/-9°C.

On Writing: Action This Day

Although I’m still in the midst of the “from Lithia (Florida) to Madison” transition and – admittedly – struggling to cope with some aspects of the move, I’m seriously considering resuming, in some way, work on Reunion: Coda either today or tomorrow.  I have not written any new words or made any edits to the manuscript since before Thanksgiving, and I don’t want to stay in this state of “wait till the settling-in process is complete” longer than necessary. After all, the longer I put off going back to work on my novel, the more difficult it will be to immerse myself into the world of Jim, Marty, Maddie, and, of course, Mark.

If I do decide to work on Reunion: Coda over the next 48 hours, I think I’ll focus on making edits and revisions (nips, tucks, and other adjustments) rather than adding new material to the story. I do need to finish the “epistolary chapter” so I can return to the conventional narrative style I’ve been using throughout the rest of the story, but my mind is too distracted by my having to adjust to cold weather, getting over the hurt of having to be here rather than where I used to be, and generally accepting what See-Threepio might say is my “lot in life.”

Anyway, yeah…I do need to jumpstart Reunion: Coda; perhaps I will start sometime later today…after I have something for lunch and can stop thinking about such annoyances as “Where the hell is the remote to my 4K UHD player now?’ (I last saw it New Year’s Eve when I watched – or tried to watch – the bonus features disc from the 2021 Indiana Jones: 4-Movie Collection 4K UHD box set; I looked for the remote last night so I could continue watching the behind-the-scenes documentaries but couldn’t find it.)

I don’t have any other news to share, so I’ll close for now. Until next time, stay safe, stay healthy, stay warm, and I’ll catch you on the sunny side of things.

    1. Well, starting tomorrow, if all goes well. That epistolary chapter is going to be a…bear.

  3. Yes I think that if you are done unpacking and settling in it might be a good time to resume working on Reunion: Coda. I am looking forward to reading it.

    1. Alas. Unpacking is not close to being finished. Much progress was made this weekend, true, but there’s still a lot of shelving that needs to be assembled and stuff to be unboxed.

Accordingly, I’m going to start – as I said, by revising and editing – working on the novel again regardless of the settling-in process. Otherwise, Reunion: Coda will just gather electronic dust in its .docx file in Word. I’m hoping to begin tomorrow,
