It might be spring, but this being New Hampshire, we still get snow in late March. (Photo by the author, taken on March 21, 2024)

Late Morning, Thursday, March 21, 2024, Madison, New Hampshire

Hi, everyone. It’s a sunny but frigid early spring day in eastern New Hampshire. Currently, the temperature is 22°F (-6°C) under sunny skies. With the wind blowing from the west-northwest at 14 MPH (22 KMH) and humidity at 39%, the wind chill factor is 14°F (-10°C). Today’s forecast calls for partly sunny skies and a high of 30°F (-1°C). Tonight, the skies will be mostly clear. The low will be 17°F (-8°C).

Yesterday was cold, gray, and unappealing. We had a few snow flurries early on, then it would get cloudy, with occasional light rain to add to the wintry conditions. At night, we got some snow, but not as much as we got a couple of weeks ago. As a result, I didn’t even think about donning my snow boots; I stayed in the house all day.

On Writing & Storytelling: A Quick Update on Reunion: Coda

Cover Design: Juan Carlos Hernandez

As far as progress with Reunion: Coda is concerned, this is where I stand on Thursday, March 21, 2024:

Cover Design: (C) 2023 Alex Diaz-Granados
  • The manuscript is, in its present form, 197 pages long
  • The wordcount is 84,237
  • 13 chapters, including the Prologue, are complete
  • The cover designs for the print and Kindle editions are chosen
  • A Kindle Create app file with the manuscript has been created

I still must begin Chapter 14; I had hoped that yesterday would be D-Day for that phase of writing, but I didn’t have any good ideas for Scene One. Instead, I kept on making revisions and edits on the Kindle Create app; sometimes the program didn’t replicate the breaks between paragraphs as they appeared in the original Word document, so I had to fix them manually.

If I don’t have any brilliant, or even decent, ideas for the beginning of Chapter 14, I’ll just open the Kindle Create app and look at the stuff that’s in the saved document there. If I see anything amiss – whether it’s a formatting issue or bad writing on my part – I will correct it.

Well, that’s all the news I have to share, so I’ll close for now. Until next time, stay safe, stay warm, stay healthy, and I’ll catch you on the sunny side of things.
