Late Morning, Monday, April 29, 2024, Madison, New Hampshire
Greetings, folks. It’s a gorgeous spring day here in Madison’s Eidelweiss District. Currently, the temperature is 54°F (12°C) under sunny conditions. With humidity at 75% and the wind blowing from the north-northwest at 5 MPH (8 Km/H), the feels-like temperature is 68°F (20°C). Today’s forecast calls for mostly sunny skies and a high of 68°F (20°C). Tonight, we can expect mostly clear skies. The low will be 41°F (5°C).
Weekend Update, Part the Second, or: A Restful Sunday
“Sundays are like confetti floating in the air in slow motion, in the evening they reach the ground and you hope a bit of wind could blow on them so they could fly a bit longer.” ― Alain Bremond-Torrent, running is flying intermittently
Yesterday was, as usual here, an uneventful day. Other than cleaning up after breakfast, lunch, and dinner, I didn’t do much of anything except try to relax so I could be rested for the start of the workweek that begins today.
(Author’s Note: I should have done my laundry, but I, if I must be honest here, didn’t feel like it.)
I did finish watching Obi-Wan Kenobi, Lucasfilm’s 2022 limited series (what used to be called a miniseries) chronicling a rare venture off Tatooine by the titular character (Ewan McGregor, reprising his Prequel Trilogy role) 10 years after the events of Star Wars – Episode III: Revenge of the Sith. I’d watched the first five episodes Saturday – three in the afternoon, two at night – but I watched two (Parts V and VI) yesterday because, as is my wont these days, I fell asleep halfway through the fifth and I wanted to see it again before watching the finale.
Someday, if and when I ever feel like writing reviews again, I’ll do a more complete writeup of Obi-Wan Kenobi and its two-disc 4K UHD set from Buena Vista Home Entertainment. For now, I’ll say that the series – which was produced for the Disney+ streaming service – is a must-see for Star Wars fans, especially those who – like me – are from the 1977 Generation or love the 1999-2005 Prequels written and directed by George Lucas. The writing is good, the acting is excellent, and the series boasts production values that equal those of the Star Wars feature films.
Other than that, I stuck to my usual weekend routine of blogging, listening to music of different genres on my Amazon Music app, gaming – I played a session of Regiments, my current favorite – and spent time – too much, I sometimes think – on Facebook and Twitter.
I ended my restful Sunday by trying to watch Rian Johnson’s Star Wars – Episode VIII: The Last Jedi, but I started the 2017 movie after 10 PM and fell asleep before the 30-minute mark. I suspected that would happen, but still, I persisted.
On Writing & Storytelling: Action This Day

As I mentioned earlier, today is the beginning of a new workweek, so I will be working on Reunion: Coda after my midday R&R break.
I’m not sure at the moment what, exactly, I will do this afternoon. I have two options: re-read, edit, and revise what I wrote last week, or push ahead with Scene Six of Chapter 15 and end that part of the novel. I must do both before I finish the manuscript, but since I didn’t devote much thought to this yesterday, my mind is blank as to what I will do today.
Oh, well. I’ll figure it out – eventually.
In the meantime, if you haven’t read Reunion: A Story yet, you can get the e-book edition for free on Amazon until April 1. It’s a short but engaging novella that introduces the main characters and the setting of Reunion: Coda, and I think you’ll enjoy it. You can download your copy by using the Amazon Kindle preview widget below.
That’s all for now, folks. I hope you have a wonderful day, wherever you are. Stay safe, stay healthy, and keep reading!
