Late Morning, Tuesday, May 21, 2024, Madison, New Hampshire

Hi, folks. It’s another cool but warming up spring day here in my corner of Madison’s Eidelweiss District. As I begin this post, the temperature is 70°F (21°C) under mostly sunny skies. With humidity at 71% and the wind blowing from the south-southwest at 2 MPH (3 Km/H). the heat index is 84°F (29°C). Today’s forecast calls for partly sunny skies and a high of 85°F (30°C). Tonight, the skies will be mostly clear. The low will be 60°F (15°C).
On Writing & Storytelling: A Quick Update on Reunion: Coda

As you know, yesterday I hoped to get Chapter 17, Scene Two written, or at least started. I did everything I usually do during the regular working day to be physically and mentally ready. I ate lunch. I rested. I listened to music. I took my daily vitamins. I also showered for a long time with hot water, not only to stay clean, but to unwind and boost my energy later. The one thing I skipped – because I was short on time – was going out and breathing some fresh air and sun.

Nothing doing. I returned to my desk at 2:30 PM (a half hour later than I would have liked but still within my start time window)…and nothing happened. I didn’t write any fresh copy. I didn’t edit or revise. I didn’t even brainstorm a line of dialogue or plot point. I just sat here, staring at my Word document with the manuscript, hoping inspiration would strike – only to quit in disgust and disappointment shortly before 5 PM.
I fervently hope that things go differently. I really need to finish this novel; I have been working on it – with that unexpected hiatus forced on me by the move from Tampa to New Hampshire – for slightly over 14 months. My goal is to put out Reunion: Coda this year, maybe by the middle of summer; I want to make the people who wanted more of Reunion: A Story happy but I also want to have the printed version of my first novel in my hands and read it.
(Before you ask: I also want Reunion: Coda to earn me some royalties and boost my writing career. But, mostly, I want to share my stories with others. I am, first and foremost, a storyteller.)

Aside from the minor achievement of finally getting Amazon Music installed on my bedroom TV set, I don’t have anything to add to this post, so I’ll close here. Until we meet again, goodbye.
