A Spring-Like Feeling in the Air

Hi, everyone. Welcome to the Friday edition of A Certain Point of View, Too. It is a warm spring day here in my corner of Madison’s Eidelweiss District. As I write this, the temperature is 74°F (24°C) under mostly sunny conditions. With humidity at 32% and the wind blowing from the west-southwest at 12 MPH (19 Km/H), the feels-like temperature is 77°F (25°C). Today’s forecast calls for mostly sunny skies and a high of 80°F (27°C). Tonight, we can expect clear skies. The low will be 43°F (6°C).
On Writing & Storytelling: Reunion: Coda – Back on the Slow Lane…Again

Although yesterday was not totally unproductive – I did some editing on Scene Two of That Moment Divine (aka Chapter 17) – my Thursday was one of those “I can’t come up with a compelling way to start a scene” days that make me wish I’d taken on this project 10 or even 15 years ago. I’ve touched on this topic before, but it bears repeating: Writing is not easy, especially if you’re writing fiction and must visualize characters, settings (including geographic locations and time periods!) and situations in your head before hitting a single key on a keyboard.

Consider. I’ve had days when Reunion: Coda’s narrative just seems to flow like honey from my subconscious to my fingers and onto the computer’s screen. I’ve also had days when I feel as though I have to pry the story out of the grip of my Muse Calliope’s dainty but supernaturally strong hands with a vise. If Wednesday was one of those intensely inspired working days, then yesterday was almost the opposite.

Still, I got some work done. I made some revisions to Scene Two, then copy-pasted what I have of That Moment Divine onto both WriteItNow 5 (Version 502i) and Kindle Create.
So, there’s that.
Action This Day

I’m going to begin my two-hour midday break (a half hour late) soon. I hope Calliope is feeling generous; I want to start Scene Three as soon as possible, and I’ll be overjoyed if I can do it when I return to my desk between 2:30 and 3 PM. If I can write the complete scene today that would be awesome, but I’ll be content if I can get it off to a good start so I can finish it on Monday.
I do plan to write that scene so I can move the story forward and nudge Reunion: Coda that much closer to its conclusion. Let’s see what happens, though, what happens on this last afternoon of my workweek.

I don’t have any personal news outside of my writing endeavors, so I’ll just close this post here. Until next time, stay safe, stay healthy, and I’ll catch you on the sunny side of things.
