On Writing & Storytelling: Ode to the Closing Stanzas – Celebrating the End of Reunion: Coda’s Chapter 17

In the heart of the city, where stories entwine,
A chapter concludes, its ending divine.
With words that have danced in the soft city light,
A tale of two souls, in the metropolis’ night.

Oh, what a journey these pages have seen,
From laughter to whispers, and moments between.
Jim and Maddie, in love’s sweet repose,
Their weekend of magic, now a chapter that closes.

Clockwise (from top right): Jim Garraty at South Miami High, circa 1983; Maddie in March 2000; Marty, circa 1981; Jim Garraty, circa 2000

Raise a toast to the writer, whose pen has spun gold,
Crafting scenes of such warmth, with a beauty untold.
For each word is a star in the sky of the mind,
A universe crafted, so rare and refined.

So here’s to the art, and the love that it brings,
To the Maja, the music, and the angel that sings.
For in the realm of fiction, where dreams are the key,
A chapter’s completion is a triumph to see.

After a slow start to my workday and a momentary loss of confidence, I found inspiration after having a delicious turkey cheeseburger with BBQ sauce and wrote Scene Four this evening, thus completing Reunion: Coda’s 17th chapter. I am thus in a celebratory mood.

Now, if only I had someone special in my life to share this moment with…..

  1. That is a great author poem. I wish you good luck with the remainder of your book.

    1. I thought today was going to be another “lost” day. I made a BBQ turkey cheeseburger early (before 5 PM), then sat down on Word and said, “Okay…one more try. Maybe I’ll get the scene started.”

I’m tired. I’ve been making revisions to the scene for three hours! So…thanks for the good wishes, Thomas. And good night!
