On Writing & Storytelling: Edits, Revisions, and…a Review!

It was a hectic and thrilling day at work for me yesterday. My reliable and skilled Beta Reader, Denise Longrie, gave me her feedback on the final two scenes of That Moment Divine (or Chapter 17 of Reunion: Coda) after she checked them out on the shared document on Google Drive. She liked the chapter, and yesterday she only made a couple of suggestions for changes or edits. I looked at each one and thought about it carefully. In one case, I did a big rewrite; in the other two…I kept things the way they were.

But Denise enjoyed That Moment Divine nonetheless. She writes: Dang, this is fun reading. I don’t have too many comments, I’m afraid.

So, hurry up and finish this so I know what happens!

The view from my Kindle Create app. I don’t write on this program; I import my text from Microsoft Word.

Following Denise’s suggestion, I devoted an hour to revamping the chapter section that required some alterations. It was a challenge to reconstruct the scene without losing its emotional undertone, but I’m pleased with the result.

I was done with polishing Chapter 17, when I discovered that Pooja Gudka, a WordPress blog buddy, had shared her thoughts on Reunion: A Story, the short tale that begins the Reunion Duology, on her blog Lifesfinewhine.

The Kindle cover.

Reunion: A Story was one of Pooja’s top picks for books written by bloggers last year. She got the Kindle version in the summer and loved it so much that she read it again. You can see what she said about this novella in her glowing review here:  Reunion: A Story: A Novella by Alex Diaz-Granados Review

I was so touched and grateful for Pooja’s kind words and support. She is a wonderful blogger and friend, and I appreciate her taking the time to read and review my work. If you haven’t checked out her blog or her review yet, please do so. You won’t regret it!

Action This Day: Last Workday of the Week!

Today is the last workday of the regular week for me. I’m going to take a break soon and enjoy some lunch and relaxation. After that, I’ll resume working on Reunion: Coda, the second and final part of the Reunion Duology. I’m excited to share this story with you all, and I hope you’ll enjoy reading it as much as I enjoy writing it.

That’s all for now, folks. Stay safe, stay healthy, and have a wonderful weekend!
