Madison Summer Almanac

Hi, everyone. It’s a cool but beautiful early summer day in my corner of New Hampshire. The current temperature is 71°F (21°C) under partly sunny conditions. With humidity at 58% and the wind blowing from the west-northwest at 8 MPH (12 Km/H), it feels like 79°F (26°C). Today’s forecast calls for mostly sunny skies. The high will be 72°F (22°C). Tonight, the skies should be mostly clear. The low will be 49°F (10°C).
Weekend Update, Part the Second, or: A Meh-Worthy Sunday

My take on Sunday: Meh, it was fine. That’s the kindest way I can put Sunday, June 9, 2024. It was overcast for most of the day, but the sun finally showed up in the evening. Too late for me to drag myself outside, even to the porch, but, well, a little sunshine is better than none.

Yesterday was a dull day, except for the two Regiments battles I fought in the late afternoon. I replayed the old “Runway” scenario, where I had to free a NATO airbase from the Warsaw Pact invaders. I chose the “Medium” difficulty level (which I’ve been brave enough to do since earlier this year), and even though I had the best American unit (the 1st Brigade of the 3rd Armored Division) in the game, the Warsaw Pact units controlled by the AI didn’t let me win a Total Victory, only letting me take six of the eight Objective Zones in the mission.

And so, dear readers, goes another weekend into the history books.

On Writing & Storytelling: Action This Day

Today I’m running late on my ideal workday schedule; instead of getting up bright and early between 6:30 and 7:30 AM, I snoozed till 8:30 AM. And even though I had a good breakfast, I’m still feeling sluggish and slow. I’m hoping that a midday break will perk me up and clear my head; I’m eager to start Chapter 18 of Reunion: Coda, but I need to be awake and alert when I sit down at my desk to write.

My afternoon agenda is to tackle the novel. But what does that mean exactly? Will I create something new for a different chapter? Or will I be content with fixing and polishing what I already have? I have no clue at this point. I guess I’ll find out when I get back to my desk at 3 PM (a bit late for me, but still within my working hours).

It’s time for me to start my rest break so I can be back at my work shift at 3, so I have to say goodbye to you lovely people and get moving. So, until we meet again, take care, stay well, and I’ll see you when the skies are blue,
