Midday/Early Afternoon, Thursday, June 20, 2024, Madison, New Hampshire

Hello, everybody.

I’m behind schedule, and I don’t want to mess up my work rhythm too much, so I’ll make this quick.

Things were a bit better yesterday in terms of working on Reunion: Coda.

No, I didn’t write Scene Two of The Gathering Storm (Chapter 18). I didn’t even write a single sentence. So, the manuscript’s word count is still – as of this blog post – at 99,174.

At least Scene One is “in the books”!

However, even though I hate outlining anything – it takes me back to the dreaded term papers I did in high school and college – I “cracked” the scene by outlining it.

I would have liked to write the scene by the skin of my teeth – I’m usually at my best when I improvise, after all. But I’m exhausted, a bit sad, and eager to finish the novel, so I made a detailed outline with the scene’s setting, characters, and situation.

It’s time for my midday break, so I’ll end this now. Bye!

  1. 99,174 is so close to 100,000. I wish you good luck with your writing the rest of the week.

    1. It’s now…thankfully…99,835.

I added the new scene just a little while ago. I’ll re-read it tomorrow (right now, I’m tired and in no position to evaluate my own writing with a detached mindset) and revise it where necessary.

As always, I appreciate your kindness and support, Thomas.

      2. It’s a good thing that I finished when I did, We have some rain and lightning in the area. It’ll lower the temperature, but I hate it when I have to stop writing when thunderstorms are around.

So, now it’s time to grab a book and get away from my desk. Thanks, Thomas, for your kind words and good wishes.
