Madison Summer Almanac

It is a grey, wet, and chilly day here in my corner of eastern New Hampshire. The current temperature is 63ยฐF (17ยฐC) with cloudy conditions. With the wind blowing from the south-southwest at 3 MPH (5 Km/H) and humidity at 94%, the feels-like temperature is 72ยฐF (22ยฐC). Todayโs forecast calls for rain throughout the day, with strong wind gusts sometime after 4 PM. The high will be 71ยฐF (22ยฐC). Tonight, there will be scattered rain showers. The low will be 61ยฐF (16ยฐC).
My Weather app says the showers will resume soon, so it seems like today is going to be wetter than a dog’s nose compared to yesterday.
Well, it’s summer, so what can you do? I’m from Florida, where it’s the “wet season,” and this is when we get a lot of rain and thunderstorms. The thunderstorms here don’t look as bad or as long as the ones I’m familiar with, at least.
Regardless of the difference between Southern and Northern rainy days, they still make me blue.
Weekend Update, Part the First: Soggy Saturday

Yesterday was not as gloomy, stormy, or wet as today, but it was still a drizzly Saturday. My mood matched the weather, and I felt like a wet blanket. All I wanted to do was waste time on social media, watch YouTube videos, listen to music, read books, or play some games.

I wish I had worked on Reunion: Coda yesterday, even though it was the start of my weekend and I had no obligation to do so. But as I’ve mentioned before, bad weather puts a damper on my creativity, especially when I have other worries besides the novel. And since I’m struggling to write this blog post, I don’t think I’ll attempt to work on the manuscript later.
On a positive note, Marc dropped by a couple of hours ago and drove me to Hannaford to stock up on groceries. I didn’t get much this time; I just picked up the essentials for the week. Some of it was because I still had food left from the last trip to Market Basket, but mostly it was because the weather here is so fickle thanks to the mountains and how they mess with the weather systems. One moment, the Weather app says, “Get ready for rain in 20 minutes,” and the next moment it says, “It’s just cloudy; rain will start in two hours.”
I donโt have any plans for today, so Iโll close here. Until next time, adios, amigos.

Here in Dallas we currently have 96 degrees, real feel 107 degrees, and a blue sky. It is dry. I hope you can work on your book tomorrow instead.

That’s hot. I know Texas is supposed to be hot because of its geography, but (as in Florida), the temperatures in your state are increasingly warmer by the year.
I was thinking about trying to do some edits today, but…no. I’ll wait till tomorrow.
As always, thanks for stopping by, Thomas!

Trade you weather-wise. It’s effing 90, which I know Thomas can do standing on his head. ๐ A few wildfires around, but nothing close to us. That doesn’t mean I wish wildfires on you. I don’t wish that on anyone.
But a little rain would be nice.
