Hi, everyone.

This is going to be a brief post. I had a tough time falling asleep last night, so when I woke up this morning, it was past 9. Naturally, if I write a long blog post now, my carefully planned schedule will be messed up and Iโ€™ll lose another writing day.

To sum it up: Yesterday sucked big time, both on a personal and a work level. I was stuck in a dark mood for most of the afternoon because Scene Three was a blank page, and the more I racked my brain for ideas, the more my muse deserted me.

The view from WriteItNow earlier this week.

This triggered a downward spiral; the stronger my urge to write, the weaker my creative flow. And the higher my frustration, the lower my confidence.

So, Scene Three of Reunion: Coda is still buried in my subconscious, and Calliope, my muse, is still on vacation.

Calliope, Muse of Epic Poetry, 1798. Charles Meynier (French, 1768โ€“1832). Oil on canvas; overall: 275 x 177 cm (108 1/4 x 69 11/16 in.). The Cleveland Museum of Art, Severance and Greta Millikin Purchase Fund 2003.6.4

Naturally, I’ll do my best to get some work done on the manuscript today. As you know, I’m eager to get this novel into the world as soon as possible. And I’m almost at the finish line. But some weeks it seems like finding new scenes for the last group of chapters is as tough as squeezing blood from a stone.

But I won’t give up. The book won’t magically appear on the page.

Itโ€™s time for my slightly delayed midday break, so Iโ€™ll talk to you soon. Ciao!
