Mid- to Late Morning, Friday, August 9, 2024, Madison, New Hampshire

The weather today in eastern New Hampshire is overcast with a light breeze and a chill in the air on this second Friday of August. It’s just past 7:30 AM EDT, and I’ve been awake for a few hours already. Lately, I’ve been struggling with early-morning wakeups due to painful muscle cramps. Even the most pleasant dreams are interrupted by these cramps, which usually occur in my legs, but last night the discomfort was in my upper back and shoulder area.
I went to MaineHealth Memorial Hospital in Conway yesterday. My doctor, Dr. O’Brien, told me that for a 61-year-old, I’m in decent physical health, but he’s concerned about my high anxiety levels and some weight loss issues. He prescribed a mild dose of Remeron and asked me to come back for a follow-up next week.
Due to a bureaucratic error, I couldn’t get my Remeron from Walmart after we left the hospital. I hope this gets sorted out soon. I’m trying to stay positive about moving back to Florida, but I tend to worry a lot.
The GoFundMe for my move to Miami is going well. So far, 13 donors have given $1,055, which is over 20% of the realistic $5,000 goal, though the public goal is $6,000. Moving between states is costly, and living in Florida will be more expensive. I dislike needing a GoFundMe, but…

I hope I can calm my thoughts enough to work on Reunion: Coda this afternoon. The ongoing issues with Remeron are making it hard to think clearly and make rational decisions due to stress and lack of sleep. Writing fiction has become difficult without a peaceful environment. I haven’t worked on my novel this week because I’m too anxious to focus on Jim, Maddie, Mark, and Marty or their story.
I’m grateful for the generosity and kindness of my supporters. Thank you so much for helping me make this transition and pursue my dreams in my familiar hometown in South Florida. I look forward to sharing more updates and stories with you soon. In the meantime, I hope you are all staying safe and healthy. Remember that you are not alone, and that there is always hope for a better tomorrow.
