Mid-Morning, Sunday, September 8, 2024, Madison, New Hampshire
Hi, folks. It’s a sunny but chilly Sunday morning in my corner of eastern New Hampshire. People who have lived here a long time probably don’t think it’s cold, but this Florida native thinks it is. I wear chilly clothes – long johns, trousers, a blue sweatshirt, socks, and shoes. If I go run a couple of errands later today, I will put on a warm jacket and a hat.

Aside from that, I don’t have much personal news. I’m tired, have a mild headache, and will only go out later if necessary, not because I want to. I slept okay until I had to answer the call of nature at 5:37 this morning. I tried to go back to sleep, but it’s cold inside the house and I only took cat naps until I finally got up at 8:15 AM to make breakfast.
I think I’ll try to relax for the rest of this lovely – but nippy – fall Sunday. The novel can wait until tomorrow, no?

Here in Dallas we have 90 degrees. That’s not 100’s but it is not nippy. As you know for me, I am used to the cold, and I wouldn’t mind it a little bit nippy. I am tired of the hot weather.

It’s not nippy down in Florida either. I’m trying to not let the cold get to me, though.

I remember when I heard that word for the first time in my life. I was an exchange student to the US and I was skiing in Breckenridge Colorado. On this day there was a strong wind and it was cold. It was probably far below 0 with windchill. I stopped to take a break and so did a girl I did not know. She said “nippy, huh”. I said “yeah”. I was thinking, what a funny word. Back then my English was not as good.

That’s a cute story. She probably had no idea you’d never heard the word.

Not nippy here, either. We had escaped the crazy heat until. It was 110 the other day. It’s been 103, 104 the last couple of days. Today is supposed to be the last crazy hot day. Tuesday it will cool down to 90.
I’d like a little nippy.
