Late Morning, Friday, November 1, 2024, Miami, Florida
Hello there, Constant Readers. It’s another warm, sunny, and muggy day in South Florida. As I write this, the temperature is 81°F (27°C) under mostly sunny conditions. With humidity at 71% and the wind blowing from the east-northeast at 11 MPH (17 Km/H), the heat index is 85°F (30°C). Today’s forecast calls for mostly sunny skies. The high will be 84°F (29°C). In other words, it’s another fine day in the subtropical zone of the Northern Hemisphere.

As I feared, I couldn’t work on Reunion: Coda yesterday. Even though I wake up at my usual time – or even earlier – in the morning, I am still a bit weary early in the day. I want to adhere to the schedule I started when I lived on the “Left Coast” of Florida and kept in Madison, New Hampshire – blog in the morning, a rest break at midday, then work on the novel for four hours in the afternoon – but my muscles are still sore from the 1,625.7 mile-long road trip that ended on Saturday, and my mind is still reeling from the experiences I’ve had thus far. So, as much as I want to start writing on this blog early enough to publish a post before noon, thus far I haven’t been able to do so. And once I’m late starting one phase of my workday, the disruption of the schedule gets worse, and my plans go wildly astray.

On the bright side, my morning coffee was as strong as my desire to get back on track. It’s a bit like trying to herd cats, but without the adorable furry faces. And let’s be honest, if I were a cat, I’d be napping in a sunbeam right now instead of lamenting my disrupted schedule. So here’s to hoping for a more productive afternoon, filled with inspired writing and less muscle soreness. At least the weather is on my side, right?
