Hi, everyone.

It’s a brisk and beautiful Saturday morning in Miami. Though the recent cold snap that blanketed the northern parts of the state left South Florida untouched by snow, we’re still feeling the chill. At the moment, the temperature is a crisp 59°F (15°C) under clear blue skies. While that might feel chilly to a native Miamian like me, it’s certainly an improvement from yesterday’s dreariness. And let me tell you, it’s nothing compared to the biting cold of Madison, New Hampshire. My former home is basking in sunshine but shivering at a frigid 18°F (-8°C).

It probably looks like this in my former New Hampshire digs.

Yesterday’s gray skies might have cast a wintry shadow over the last workday of my week, but they didn’t dampen my spirits or productivity. Armed with a detailed outline for the second scene of Chapter 24 in my novel, Reunion: Coda, I dove into my afternoon writing session with enthusiasm. After several hours of writing, revising, and fine-tuning, I crafted a scene that skillfully balances vivid imagery, engaging character interactions, and rich historical context. It’s a concise scene at 891 words, just shy of my 1,000-word daily goal, but it’s packed with substance.

I shared two drafts with my friend Juan via email, and his feedback was glowing. He found the scene both enjoyable and well-written, which was music to my ears. So, mission accomplished! Yesterday’s output has advanced the novel to the 506-page mark, and I’m making steady progress. Looking forward to more sunny and productive days ahead.

Since today is Saturday, I’ve decided to take a well-deserved break from the manuscript. Instead of diving back into the world of my novel, I’ll be enjoying the brisk Miami air from the comfort of my home. Maybe I’ll indulge in some music or get lost in a good book. It’s the perfect time to relax, rest, and recharge my creative batteries. As much as I enjoy writing, the novel can wait till Monday.
