Late Morning, Tuesday, January 28, 2025, Miami, Florida

I took this photo a decade ago during a trip to the Winn Dixie supermarket close to my former home in South Florida.

Hi, all. It’s a sunny and cool winter morning in the Sunshine State. In my corner of South Florida, the temperature is 71°F (22°C) under sunny skies. The rest of the day promises to be comfortable, with sunny skies, a light breeze, and a high of 77°F (25°C).

Yesterday was another delightful day, weather-wise, even if it was a tad cooler. It wasn’t so chilly that I needed to don a jacket or sweater, unlike my time in Madison, New Hampshire, where even summer demanded layers. Instead, I opted for a long-sleeved button-down over my trusty Old Navy T-shirt – not quite “beach weather” yet.

Unfortunately, the day wasn’t as productive as I’d hoped. Florida Power and Light decided to cut the power to our block right in the middle of the day. By the time electricity was back, my motivation had waned. Any disruption, no matter how small, tends to throw me off my game, drying up my Well of Ideas and souring my mood. So, instead of diving into my novel, I ended up writing a short post about Sea Power for my original blog, A Certain Point of View, over on Blogger.

That was yesterday. Today marks a fresh start, bursting with possibilities. I’m excited to get back to my desk after my midday break and dive into Reunion: Coda. Whether I outline Chapter 24’s third scene or bring the scene to life, I’m determined to make significant progress. My goal is to finish my novel in 2025, ideally by my birthday in March, but even if it premieres in early summer, it will be a joyous milestone. Here’s to a productive and inspiring day ahead!
