Officially Copyrighted: My Novella’s Journey to the Library of Congress

Well, folks. It’s official. My novella, Reunion: A Story is copyrighted.

I’m excited to share that I received my Certificate of Copyright from the Library of Congress’s Copyright Office yesterday afternoon! It’s hard to believe it’s only been a little over a month since I applied to register my first published work of fiction in early January. I decided to go the online route to avoid the hassle of mailing a printed copy of my original manuscript to Washington, D.C. – it’s just so much quicker and more convenient! Going digital might have even helped speed up the process, which can sometimes take up to six months. I’m delighted with how smoothly everything went!

Securing a copyright for your literary work isn’t just about safeguarding your creative effort; it bestows a sense of legitimacy and accomplishment, an official recognition of your contribution to the literary world. It also ensures that your rights as a creator are protected, and offers you peace of mind as you share your stories with the world. As for me, I’ll be embarking on the same journey with my upcoming novel. The process may be meticulous, but the reward of holding that certificate in hand is beyond words. Here’s to many more literary adventures and official acknowledgments to come!
