Early Afternoon, Sunday, March 2, 2025, Miami, Florida

“This is Sunday, and the question arises, what’ll I start tomorrow? “ – Kurt Vonnegut

Hello there, dear reader!

It’s another hot and sunny early spring day in South Florida. Currently, the temperature is a balmy 78°F (26°C) under clear skies, though with a gentle west-northwesterly breeze blowing at 4 MPH (7 km/h), it feels more like a cozy 88°F (31°C). Even though meteorological winter just ended on Friday, today feels like a delightful mid-June day in my little corner of Miami-Dade County. I was outside just a few minutes ago, basking in the fresh air and warm sunshine, but nothing beats the comfort of returning to a cool, air-conditioned home.

This was my environment in March 2024.

Yesterday, I treated myself to a well-deserved break from working on Reunion: Coda and spent the day relaxing. I indulged in bits from several captivating books I’m currently enjoying and listened to “Mantovani: Great Concerts,” a digital album I purchased when I lived in the Tampa Bay area. This album used to make me feel homesick during my 10-month stay in New Hampshire, but now it brings me immense joy. I also dabbled in a few computer games, although my interest waned quickly. Had I thought about it sooner, I might have watched Amadeus last night. Unfortunately, it was already past midnight when I remembered that I had the movie in my Movies Anywhere collection, and since Amadeus is quite a long movie, I decided to save it for another time.

This Sunday afternoon, I plan to keep things low-key. I’ve already enjoyed some lovely time outside, but even though I usually handle the heat better than the cold, it’s gotten a bit too muggy for me to read comfortably in the backyard. So, I’ll be focusing on indoor activities! Perhaps I’ll catch up on some chores or enjoy a leisurely lunch. Who knows, maybe later I’ll feel like watching a movie or playing a computer game.

One thing is for certain – I won’t be working on my novel today. Sundays are meant for rest and rejuvenation, after all. I hope you’re having a wonderful day and taking time for yourself as well. Take care and enjoy the sunshine!

    1. I’ve taken it easy, Thomas. I can’t complain. The weather is nice and mild: the feels-like temperature outside is 73 degrees Fahrenheit/22 degrees Celsius, though the mercury says it’s actually a few degrees warmer. It’s probably the combination of setting sun, low humidity, and light breeze.

Enjoy your swim if you decide to go!
