Late Morning, Sunday, May 4, 2025, Miami, Florida
Hello, everyone!
It’s another hot and humid South Florida morning as I begin May the Fourth Be With You Day 2025. The current temperature is 82°F (28°C) under partly sunny conditions. With the wind blowing from the south-southeast at 10 MPH (16 Km/H) and humidity at 69%, it feels like it’s 89°F (32°C). Today we expect scattered rain showers and a high of 86°F (30°C).

I don’t have much in the way of news. Yesterday morning I finally learned how to update Kindle books on my Fire tablet without screwing up, and I spent most of my afternoon playing Sea Power: Naval Combat in the Missile Age or reading – among other things, I am currently engrossed in Hew Strachan’s The First World War, Antony Beevor’s Arnhem: The Battle for the Bridges, 1944, and, yes, my own novel, Reunion: Coda.
I don’t know if I’ll “observe” Star Wars Day in any meaningful way. Before I moved to Madison, New Hampshire in late 2023, I used to dedicate some time to May the Fourth Be With You, usually by watching one of the Skywalker Saga movies that are the core of the franchise or listening to Star Wars music by John Williams. I’d also read one of the many books in the collection I’ve been building since 1977.
Now that I’m back in Miami…I am not sure if I can do some of the things I used to do before I moved to either Tampa or Madison. I might try to have some Star Wars-related fun later…or…I might not. It depends on my mood.

If I do decide to spend time in that galaxy far, far away, I might read from one of my nine William Shakespeare’s Star Wars books, which are clever retellings of the Skywalker Saga films written by Ian Doescher in the style of, well, Shakespeare. I haven’t read them since I left Tampa almost a year and a half ago; they remained in one of the moving boxes during my sojourn in New Hampshire, but now they’re in my room, tucked away in an easily accessible bookcase.
Anyway, that’s all the news I have, so I’ll close for now. Until next time, stay safe, stay healthy, and I’ll catch you on the sunny side of things.
