Early Afternoon, Monday, May 5, 2025, Miami, Florida

Hi, all

It’s a bit past noon in my corner of Kendall on the first day of a new workweek. From the looks of it, the subtropical wet season – the climatic conditions I’ve seen for most of my life – has gotten off to an early start this year. Yesterday, for instance, we had a long-lasting thunderstorm with lots of rain and multiple lightning strikes. And as I write this, it’s getting dark in my room as a veil of clouds covers the sun over this part of Miami-Dade County.

It’s hot and humid outside. Currently, the temperature is 85°F (29°C) under partly sunny skies. With humidity at 68% and the wind blowing from the southeast at 9 MPH (14 Km/H), it feels like 93°F (33°C). We’ve already hit the forecast high of 85°F (29°C), but we can expect light rain showers and a modest drop in temperatures as a result. The low will be 76°F (24°C).

Today is Laundry Day, at least for me, so I am focusing on that task instead of working on any literary projects. It’s not as fun as working on Reunion: Coda, say, but except for the occasional “revision dump” to Kindle Direct Publishing, I’m done with that story. I do have a related project in the works, but that doesn’t require me to work on it daily – at least not yet. I’d rather be writing than looking at the clock to see if it’s time to retrieve my clothes from the dryer, but the chore needs to be done, and today was the best day to do it, so…..

Speaking of Reunion: Coda, I think there’s a second Amazon review on the way for my novel. Presently there’s only one Amazon UK review visible, but there are two ratings (five stars each, too) visible on the book’s Amazon product page. I’m assuming there’s a written review tied to the rating, albeit one that is being vetted by Amazon before it goes “live.”

If you’re interested in buying a copy of Reunion: Coda, there are three editions: Kindle, paperback, and – in some Amazon markets – hardcover. Some readers have already reached out and told me they are enjoying the novel, so it seems like I did a good job with my debut as a novelist!
