Late Afternoon, Friday, May 9, 2025, Miami, Florida
Hi, everyone! I hope today has brought you moments of joy, even if it’s just the simple pleasure of a good cup of coffee or a walk in the sunshine. I’m a little late checking in today because I had some errands to run—a quick trip to the bank and some grocery shopping at Publix. The heat was intense out there, and after a brief rest, I’m here, feeling grateful for this space where I can connect with all of you.
Today, I thought I’d try something different. For the first time, I used WordPress’s “Writing Prompt” feature, which nudged me to reflect on this question: “What is your career plan?”
Many of you already know that I’m a writer—a storyteller at heart. While I’m far from the fame of literary giants like Hemingway or Welty, I’ve carved out a little corner of the world as an independent author. Between 2012 and 2025, I’ve self-published several books, all available on Amazon. And here’s the part that fills me with immense gratitude and a touch of pride: I’ve penned Reunion: A Story (published in 2018) and its companion, Reunion: Coda, which debuted on April 5, 2025. Together, they form the Reunion Duology —a project that’s been close to my heart for years.

Here’s what the Amazon page says about the duology: “A poignant exploration of friendship, resilience, and the unexpected ways lives intertwine, the Reunion Duology invites readers on a journey through love, loss, and the enduring power of connection.” Writing these stories has been a labor of love, and knowing they’re out there, finding their way to readers who might connect with them, is deeply fulfilling.
At this stage of my life—having turned 62 just a couple of months ago—my career plan isn’t about chasing fame or recognition. Instead, it’s about cherishing the craft of storytelling, creating new worlds, and continuing to grow as a writer. I believe in the magic of stories to heal, to inspire, and to bring us together, and that’s what I strive to offer through my words.
Before I wrap up, I wanted to share a little news: as part of a Kindle Countdown promotion, the Kindle edition of Reunion: Coda is available for just 99 cents until Tuesday. If you’ve been curious about the Reunion Duology, this is the perfect time to dive in and discover the journey that’s so close to my heart.
Thank you for being part of this creative journey with me. Your support means more than words can express. Until next time, take care and keep dreaming.

Being a writer can be a difficult career path sometimes because despite having great writing skills it’s become more about marketing than anything else. But that being said, it’s always worth it to do what you love.

Yes, indeed, Pooj. I love writing. It’s what I was meant to do, really. My skills set and personality (for good or ill) are intrinsically bound to storytelling and the craft itself.
The business end of it, though…that part I wish I could leave to trustworthy others. I’m not business minded, I suck at math, and…I hate having to do the self-promotion “thing.” In many ways, I must rely on the kindness of strangers to either buy my book and leave reviews on Amazon/their blogs, or enthuse about it to friends and family. I can’t afford advertising on Amazon or anywhere, so…..
So, yeah. I like the “creating” part of creative writing, but the marketing? Not so much.
