“Let’s just sit quietly and listen to the secrets the rain wants to tell us.”― John Mark Green
Hi, everyone.
It’s a late spring day in South Florida. A dark, gray, and wet late spring day – a reminder that summer and the six-month-long hurricane season aren’t that far away. As a Florida native – I’ve only lived outside of the “Sunshine State” seven out of my 62 years on the planet – I can’t say I’m surprised; the wet season usually starts around this time and lingers until mid-October.

I’m also not surprised that I woke up to a deluge around 7 in the morning. I saw the forecast for today – a flood warning for my area, with rain expected throughout the day – right before I went to bed at 11 PM, so I knew what to expect. It was still depressing; dark skies and inclement weather have a noxious effect on my mood. But, as I said before, I’m a Floridian. It’s the wet season. It’s always been like this…except that summers are getting hotter earlier and the Atlantic hurricane season is getting meaner.
Currently, the temperature is 78°F (26°C) under cloudy conditions, although with humidity at 84% and a south-southeasterly breeze of 9 MPH (14 Km/H), it feels like 82°F (28°C). According to the forecast, we can expect scattered light showers throughout the day. That’s not too bad, I guess. At least there are no thunderstorms in the offing today.
As for me?

I will be doing some work on the Reunion-related project I started a few weeks ago – a project that I hope will be ready for a Holiday Season 2025 release. I’m not working on it every day lest I rush and botch my efforts, but I can’t ignore it and leave it for the last minute, either.
I also need to do some unexciting but necessary chores, so even though I’m not writing a totally new story or going out to have fun with friends, I will be busy on this dark, wet, and somewhat lowkey Monday in Miami.
