Early Afternoon, Tuesday, May 20, 2025, Miami, Florida

Hi, there.

Well, it’s another torrid late spring day in southeastern Florida on this second workday of the week. Outside, the temperature in my neighborhood – Coral Terrace – is 91°F (33°C) under sunny conditions – the same as in my former home in the Tampa Bay area, but far hotter than in Madison, New Hampshire, where it’s cloudy and chilly at 53°F (12°C). It feels like 98°F (37°C) thanks to 52% humidity and a modest 9 MPH (14 Km/H) breeze blowing from the south-southeast. It’ll be hotter this afternoon; the forecast calls for a high of 93°F (34°C). And it’s not even summer yet!

I will work on one of my writing-related projects later this afternoon, but I haven’t yet decided which one. I don’t have any good ideas for “the next story” yet, so I’m not ready to pen a short story or novella. So I’ll either work on the Reunion Duology project I plan to release in December or market Reunion: Coda.  I’d rather do the more creative, non-business task, but both must be done anyway. I don’t know. Maybe I’ll flip a coin or something.

Aside from that, folks, I don’t have much in the way of news. I’m currently reading several books, including my novel Reunion: Coda, Dawn Pisturino’s Haiku for the Midnight Hour, and several World War II books, including Ian Toll’s Pacific War trilogy and Mark E. Stille’s Midway: The Pacific War’s Most Famous Battle.

About Reunion: Coda: I think – subjectively – that I did a decent job as a first-time novelist, especially since I’m reading the latest revised edition instead of the one I initially bought early last month. I didn’t set out to write a literary masterpiece; I simply wanted to conclude a story I first started to tell – unwittingly – when I was still in college and give my protagonist/narrator Jim Garraty a sense of redemption and closure. I think I managed to do it, but since I’m too close to Reunion: Coda and the novella that precedes it, I can’t be 100% certain that the novel is great. (That’s where customer reviews come in, and so far, there’s only three written reviews and one review-free rating on Amazon.)

In conclusion, life in the Sunshine State continues with its mix of blistering heat, creative pursuits, and a little indecision over what to tackle next. Whether it’s working on my Reunion Duology project or marketing Reunion: Coda, the journey of weaving stories and sharing them with readers remains incredibly rewarding. For those of you who haven’t yet had the chance, I’d love for you to check out my novel, Reunion: Coda – a story that’s been years in the making and one I hope will resonate with you. And to those who’ve already picked up a copy, thank you from the bottom of my heart for your support and feedback; it means the world to me.

Wherever you are, whether it’s under the blazing Florida sun or in the cool comfort of a northern spring, I wish you a fantastic day or a restful evening. Take care, friends!
